Joys of Summer

Sunburnt cheeks,

Popsicle-dyed tongue,

Wet, wavy hair,

Hot sand,

Chlorine scented swimsuits,

Sandals and shorts,

Tank tops with pink tinged

Shoulders peaking out

From underneath,

Bright eyes of a child lost in the

Thought of some wild fantasy,

Those summertime joys bring.

Empty Now

My heart is so full of

love

joy

excitement

mercy.

It all overflows in tears.

These aren't happy tears,

but they aren't shed in sorrow either.

These tears release

everything

that was so forcefully contained in me.
